What to Expect
Our congregational worship is characterized by traditional hymns and sacred music performed by the Chancel Choir. Our worship is periodically enhanced by instrumental ensembles, an adult hand bell choir and the children's choir.
The dress for worship at First Baptist Church is generally "business casual," although all are welcome regardless of their attire. Our greeters and ushers are available to provide direction, and are happy answer questions and assist our guests. Prior to worship, all members and guests are invited to gather in the Narthex for our Coffee Fellowship time.
Elementary age children are invited to join their families for worship at 10:00 am. Following the Children's Sermon, children are then dismissed to Children's Worship. Busy Bags and tablets are provided at the Information Center for children wishing to remain with their families during the duration of worship.
Current Sermon Series
During this national health crisis, First Baptist Church is providing worship experiences online. Each service will include congregational singing, special music, a sermon and the observance of the ordinance of Communion. Words to hymns will be provided on your screen. You will need to provide your own bread and cup for Communion. Services are still held at 10:00 am, then archived on the website should you choose to view them at a later time. You can find our services at www.fbcdsm.org/live-stream.
The sermons at First Baptist Church and the Pew Bibles both utilize the New Living Translation. Large print editions are available in the Narthex from the Ushers. The Church is also equipped with an audio hearing assist system. Receivers are also available from the Ushers. Members and guests are welcome to use their smart phones or tablets as their Bible and may access our free guest wi-fi internet service.
