Wednesday night activities for adults and school-age children are a traditional part of Christian education and fellowship in the First Baptist Church of Greater Des Moines. The mid-week activities offer informal opportunities to connect with The Church, fellowship with others, and to grow spiritually through Christian Education activities for children and adults.
The Church provides a dinner each week at 6:00 pm, followed by activities from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Childcare for infants and toddlers is available from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In addition, walk-ons are welcome at the 7:30 pm choir practice.
The Church is sensitive to concerns about COVID-19 and respects an individual’s choice to wear a mask or to request social distancing when participating in activities in the building. Masks, hand sanitizer, and tissues are available in the narthex.
Here’s what you need know to be a part of our Wednesday Night Activities:
Dinner
The free-will offering dinner will be served at 6:00 pm. Reservations are due by noon on Mondays and may be made by signing up at the Church, or calling the Church Office (515) 243-8161.
Childcare
Trained, security-cleared attendants will be available to provide care for infants and pre-kindergarten children, 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Children Activities (kindergarten through fifth grade) - 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Youth Group (sixth grade through 12th grade) - 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Adult Class
Interim Pastors Jim and Deb Harkness are leading a Bible study and facilitating presentations and discussions on topics identified by class participants. Bring your Bible and bring a friend to enjoy this class, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
Choir Practice
Under the direction of Colby Gochanour, the adult choir practices at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Walk-ons are welcome!
