What to Expect
First Baptist Church is a congregation that celebrates Christ through the Fine Arts. Using traditional music, our worship services are characterized by traditional hymns and sacred music performed by the Chancel Choir. Our worship is periodically enhanced by instrumental ensembles, an adult hand bell choir and the children's choir.
The dress for worship at First Baptist Church is generally "business casual," although all are welcome regardless of their attire. Our greeters and ushers are available to provide direction, and are happy answer questions and assist our guests. Prior to worship, all members and guests are invited to gather in the Narthex for our Coffee Fellowship time.
Elementary age children are invited to join their families for worship at 10:00 am. Following the Children's Sermon, children are then dismissed to Children's Worship. Busy Bags and tablets are provided at the Information Center for children wishing to remain with their families during the duration of worship.
Children & Youth
There are several activities for offered for our youngest members, which conveniently coincide with adult ministries and programs:
- Childcare is available for children ages 0-2 years
- Children's Worship is available for children ages 3-5 years, and grades 1-5
- Youth Group is available for students grades 6-12 on Wednesday's at 6:30 pm
Childcare workers and adult volunteers are trained and criminal background checks are conducted as a part of their screening.
Current Sermon Series
Many evangelicals are well informed about God as Father and Jesus as the Son of God. At the same time, we are often lacking in our understanding of the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit. Our summer begins with an eight week study of the Holy Spirit, titled, "Open." During this time we will discover who the Holy Spirit is and the function the Spirit plays in our Christian experience.
June 17 Open and Shut
June 24 Meet the Holy Spirit
July 8 The Birth of a Movement
July 15 Nic at Night
July 22 The Spirit Controlled Life
July 29 The Spirit Who Speaks Today
August 5 The Gifts of the Spirit
August 12 The Fruit of the Spirit
The sermons at First Baptist Church and the Pew Bibles both utilize the New Living Translation. Large print editions are available in the Narthex from the Ushers. The Church is also equipped with an audio hearing assist system. Receivers are also available from the Ushers. Members and guests are welcome to use their smart phones or tablets as their Bible and may access our free guest wi-fi internet service.
