March 18, 2020 Update

Dear First Family and Friends,

Yesterday, Governor Reynolds issued a proclamation in which she declared a state of health crisis emergency in the State of Iowa. Section Three of the proclamation declares the closure of public gatherings of groups in excess of ten people effective immediately through March 31. In response to this, we have cancelled all activities, programs and Worship services through Wednesday, April 1. In the meantime, please be aware of the following:

1. The Church building will remain closed with exception of essential Staff. The Staff is available to serve pastoral ministry needs by appointment.

2. Online Worship will resume on Sunday, March 22, at 10:00 am. You may watch the service at that time or later at your convenience. Online worship may be accessed at www.fbcdsm.org/media.

3. You may contact the Church Office during regular Office hours by phone or email. The Staff will continue to work either in office or at home. Thanks to technology, we are able to answer the phone or respond to email remotely.

4. You are encouraged to remain faithful in financial stewardship by mailing your contributions, utilizing online bill pay or online giving at www.fbcdsm.org/ways-to-give. If you have questions or need assistance with online giving, please contact the Church Office.

5. Remember, we are our “siblings keeper!” Please phone, email or send a card to those in our congregation to people who God brings to mind! We will continue to provide prayer requests and updates through the email prayer chain. If you have not signed up to be a part of the prayer ministry, please contact the Church Office.

6. Finally, we will communicate updates including further cancellations through email, text messaging, social media, and of course, the website. We will not share information such as further cancellations through television stations or other media outlets. If you know of someone who is not connected to the Church through one of the above sources, please take a moment to keep them up to date.

I will share a brief video message to the congregation tomorrow afternoon. Until then, please be in prayer for those directly impacted by COVID-19, for health care professionals and first responders. Please pray for our governmental agencies and their leadership that they would make wise decisions.
